Gary J. Barger, 69, of West Liberty, passed away unexpectedly Thursday morning, Jan. 21, 2016, at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus.
He was born in Bellefontaine on Dec. 13, 1946, to the late Marvin and Hazel Clem Barger.
On July 15, 1966, he married the former Rebecca VanHoose in West Liberty and she survives.
He also is survived by sons, Clinton (Sherry) Barger and Clayton (Deborah) Barger, both of West Liberty; grandchildren, Zack, Ryan, Grace, Aundria, Nicholas and Mason; brothers, Dwight Barger of Sharon Center and Lyle (Lylia) Barger of Bellefontaine; nephews, Reyse and Troy Barger; niece, Kaley Bensman; and his dog, Priscilla.
A 1964 graduate of West Liberty-Salem High School, he attended Lincoln Technical School in Indianapolis and was a member of the Army Reserves. He was a lifelong farmer.
Gary’s love and passion were for his wife, his family, being a farmer and his antique cars. He was a member of Kings Creek United Methodist Church.
Calling is from 2 to 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 25, at Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, West Liberty, where Pastor Keith Matthews officiates a funeral service beginning at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 26.
Burial is in Fairview Cemetery, West Liberty, with military honors provided by the Logan County Veteran Honor Guard.
