A DeGraff man wound up in jail Friday on charges filed by three local law enforcement agencies.
ANGLES |
The incidents began about 5:30 p.m. with a report of an injury crash and ended with Derek Angles, 35, being jailed on charges of operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs, a probation violation and possession of marijuana.
A trooper of the Marysville Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to the single-vehicle crash at the intersection of County Road 13 and Township Road 46 where Mr. Angles had reportedly failed to stop at a stop sign and struck a pole at the intersection.
He was cited for the OVI charge along with driving under suspension and failure to stop at a stop sign and was transported by a Bellefontaine squad to Mary Rutan Hospital for treatment of injuries.
After arriving at the hospital, Mr. Angles reportedly checked himself out and left on foot.
Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department were then called to re-arrest Mr. Angles on a felony probation violation issued by the Adult Parole Authority. He was located in the 400 block of north Troy Road about 7:30 p.m. and taken to the Logan County Jail.
When Mr. Angles arrived there, however, he was found in possession of a small amount of marijuana authorities believe he obtained after leaving the hospital.
Corrections officers with the Logan County Sheriff’s Office filed the misdemeanor possession charge.
