Emma Alice Spence passed Sunday, Dec. 27, 2020, at Rhoades Hall, OSU Medical Center after a brief illness. Born May 5, 1932, to Wallace J. and Ruth Herd Skidmore of Rushsylvania.
She is preceded in death by spouses Robert C. Schrader and Arven L. Spence; daughter Carol Sumney; daughter-in-law Arica Schrader; sisters Hannah (Don) Corwin; Lydia G. (Paul) O’Haran; Cora (Bob) Lowery; Judy (Maurice) Bell; brothers Bill Skidmore (Doris Skidmore Thaxton) and Charles “Jiggs” Skidmore; great grandchildren Elegance and Lincoln Sumney; William Schrader; Samantha Givens; and Brittany Givens.
She is survived by her children Susan (Bob) Slagle of Millersburg; Bob (Toni) Schrader and Herb Schrader, both of Rushsylvania; Shirley (Fred) Hawkins of Elida; Mike (Mary) Spence of Rushsylvania; Eva (Gary) Adams of Lima, Ohio; Valeria (David) Givens of Ridgeway; son-in-law, Mike Sumney of Lima; sister-in-law Jeanette Skidmore of Rushsylvania; at least 21 grandchildren; 55 great grandchildren; 15 great great grandchildren and a large extended family.
Emma graduated from Belle Center School, went on to the Ohio State Beauty Academy, and eventually retired from Super Foods GMS.
Arrangements are being provided by Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville.
Memorial contributions can be made in her name to Hospice of Central Ohio. The family would like to thank special caring friends which allowed her to live independently in her home. Their time and care is greatly appreciated.
