Rockey R. Cane I, 68, of Bellefontaine went home to be with his Lord & Savior at 11:36am on Monday, Dec. 14, 2020, at his residence with his family by his side.
He was born in Kenton, Ohio on November 12, 1952, the son of the late William Albert and Mary Ellen (Clark) Cane.
On May 28, 1988, he married the former Karen Andrews Cane and she survives along with their two sons, Rockey R. Cane II and Lukas A. Cane, two sisters, Marcia R. Johnson and Christine (Larry) Applin, and nieces and nephews; Yvette Hunsicker, Missy Johnson, Larry “Guy” (Erica) Adams, Kerri Cane Rogan, Brandy (John) Spratt, Tessa (Jeff) Wilcoxon, and Thomas (Jessica) Bethel, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, great nieces, and nephews, and extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Constance M. Croston and two brothers, William A. Cane, Jr. and Robert “Bobby” Cane.
Rockey graduated from Benjamin Logan High School in 1973 and worked for H.B.D./Thermoid and Honda throughout his career. He was an Elder and Deacon at Greater Christ Temple Apostolic Church of Bellefontaine, Ohio for many years. He had a love for just about every sport, especially baseball in his youth, at which he excelled greatly. He enjoyed music including playing the drums, singing in the choir and was the former choir director. He also was a faithful camp counselor for many years at the Ohio District Council youth camp located at Hallowed Hills Campground in Zanesville Ohio. No one could tell an animated story like Rockey, he had an infectious smile, and loved talking to and helping people in any way that he could. He loved reading and studying his Bible,and was also known as an Elder in the church, to preach and teach a fiery word; but above all, he loved Jesus, his wife and two sons.
Rockey was known in mostly every conversation he had to talk about his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, He gave his life to the Lord in 1976, was baptized in Jesus name, filled with the Holy Ghost speaking in tongues according to the book of Acts the second chapter, and never looked back. He wanted everyone he knew and met along the way, family, friends, and even enemies to know that God could save them Just like he did himself many years ago.
A graveside service for Rockey will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 26, at Bellefontaine Cemetery.
