Arthur “A.J.” Alexander, 70, of Lewistown, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2016, at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus.
He was born in Auglaize County on July 6, 1945, to the late Roger H. “Rog” and Rosemary E. Arthur Alexander. He also was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Brittney Wasinger; and a sister, Denise A. Alexander.
On June 10, 1967, he married the former Theresa Griffiths in Lakeview and she survives, along with daughters, April (Jim) Wasinger of Urbana and Crystal (Chuck Heyboer) Regester of Lewistown; grandchildren, Justin Wasinger, Pfc. Joshua Wasinger and Emma Grace Wasinger, Alexandra (Nick Fleming) Tyson and Megan (Jeff) Wick; great-grandchildren, Avery Mae, Kali, Maria, James and Jathan; sisters, Linda (Ray) Basil of Lakeview, Melanie Tracy of New Hampshire and Dixie Alexander of New Hampshire; brothers, Paul Anthony Alexander of Marion and George Thomas (Holly) Alexander of Gahanna; and several nieces, nephews and great- nieces and nephews.
He retired as a United States Army master sergeant after 26 years of service and retired in 2009 from the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services after an additional 11 years.
He enjoyed spending time with his girls and grandchildren. AJ also enjoyed working in his woods and taking care of his chickens and bees. He enjoyed woodworking and performing everything with perfection.
Pastor Bryan Meadows will officiate a funeral at 4 p.m. Friday, Jan. 15, at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 321 N. Main St., Bellefontaine, where visitation is two hours prior to the service.
