CLARK COUNTY – A Spingfield man was killed Thursday morning in a motorcycle crash on Upper Valley Pike near Ironwood Drive in Clark County, troopers of the Springfield Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol report.
Brandon Sconfienza, 26, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Troopers reported Sconfienza was operating a southbound motorcycle about 5:15 a.m. on Upper Valley Pike, and drove off the right side of the road, lost control and flipped several times.
Sconfienza was not wearing a helmet during the crash.
“Excessive speed and alcohol are factors we are currently investigating in conjunction with the crash,” Post Commander Lt. Brian K. Aller said.
There were no actual witnesses to the crash, troopers said. Investigators are working on finding an exact time of occurrence.
“Driving impaired and over-estimating the ability of yourself and your vehicle, can quickly become deadly,” Lt. Aller said, noting this is the 53rd motorcycle crash his agency has handled this year. “Motorcyclists should wear their helmets and drive defensively.”
As of Thursday, 17 fatal crashes have been reported in Clark County during 2020.
Deputies from the Clark County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the investigation.
