A wanted motorist faces drug charges after officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department recovered bulk amounts of methamphetamine and heroin from her purse bag during a Wednesday traffic stop.
Crystal D. Stevens, 27, at large, was lodged in the Logan County Jail on a warrant for failure to appear and charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of heroin, illegal possession of prescription drugs, possession of drug abuse instruments and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Around 5:40 p..m., she was stopped driving a car in the 100 block of north Detroit Street. Officers were aware there was a warrant for her arrest which led them to stop her.
Along with methamphetamine and heroin, officers recovered pills, hypodermic syringes and other drug paraphernalia from her bag.
Driver face OVI
Marcus R. Cobb, 36, of 116 W. Lake Ave., was arrested Thursday for operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and failure to comply with officers. He also was cited for no taillights.
Officers attempted to make a traffic stop around 10:35 p.m. as Cobb was operating a pickup truck southbound on Lawrence Street. Cobb reportedly ignored emergency lights on the cruiser and it siren and drove to Pratt Street where he pulled into an apartment complex.
Once stopped, he shut off the vehicle but refused to get out of the pickup. He removed from the pickup, handcuffed and transported to jail.
Officers noted a strong odor of alcohol coming from Cobb and that he urinated himself while en route to jail.
He declined to participate in any sobriety testing.
Cobb has a prior OVI conviction from 2014, officers reported.
Citations issued in hit-skip crash
John T. Lawrence, 78, of Bellefontaine, was cited for failure to control and leaving the scene of crash Sunday.
According to crash reports, he was operating a car in the parking lot of Homecoming Restaurant, 1330 N. Main St., around 2:15 p.m. The car hit the south side of the restaurant and he then drove from the scene.
Damage was moderate to the vehicle.
Woman revived after overdose
A 36-year-old Bellefontaine woman was revived with Narcan after a reported overdose Wednesday. Officers were called to a business in the 900 block of east Sandusky Avenue around 3:30 p.m. after a caller told officers Narcan had been administered to the woman who was not breathing.
The woman was awake and talking when officers arrived and she admitted to abusing opiates.
She was transported by a Bellefontaine squad to Mary Rutan Hospital for treatment and evaluation.
