Christopher Brown, 26 of Springfield, was charged with a felony count of possession of a controlled substance as a result of a traffic stop Friday afternoon.
Officers of the Washington Township Police Department on patrol about 12:35 p.m. stopped his vehicle following a traffic light infraction in the area of World Class Drive.
While speaking with Brown, officers observed signs of drug use. Brown was asked to exit the vehicle and the officers observed him trying to conceal something in the vehicle. K9 Bruno was deployed and indicated on the vehicle. A probable cause search was conducted.
Inside of Brown’s wallet, hydrocodone, suboxone and marijuana were recovered. The defendant was taken into custody and lodged in the Logan County Jail.
• Ricki Lei Downing, 23, of Quincy, was charged with a felony count of possession of drugs during a traffic stop about 6 p.m. Friday.
Washington Township officers spotted a suspended driver on U.S. Route 33 just east of Russells Point and initiated a traffic stop.
While speaking with the driver, Downing, officers observed behaviors consistent with drug use.
The defendant was asked to exit the vehicle. K9 Bruno was called to the scene and alerted on the driver’s door. A probable cause search was conducted and inside
Downing’s purse, officers discovered a folded piece of tinfoil with a powdery substance believed to be heroin.
Downing advised officers it must’ve been in her purse for a while because she has only been using meth.
She was placed under arrest and transported to the Logan County Jail, and also was cited for two counts of driving under a 12-point suspension and license forfeiture. Her vehicle was towed from the scene.
