High school sports returned to action Wednesday with the opening of the prep golf season.
Bellefontaine, Benjamin Logan and Indian Lake competed in the Central Buckeye Conference preseason boys tournament at Lakeland Golf Course.
Benjamin Logan’s boys finished fourth in the Mad River division with a 388, while Indian Lake finished with a 398. Host Graham won the Mad River with a 359.
“Overall, we are young and it really showed today,” said BL head coach Chris Conley. “The course is tight and there are many places to get into trouble, which we did. We have a lot of work to do, but I think there is commitment to improve.”
Ethan Ricketts led the Raiders as medalist with an 80, Jacob Mitchell carded an 89, Luke McKenrick had a 106, Aaron Vogelsang shot a 113, Aiden Elsas posted a 121 and Kaiden Munz added a 133.
For Indian Lake, Lane McPherson led with an 82, Dylan Rice carded a 94, Camdon Tuttle shot a 110, Ethan Elbert had a 112, Josh Staley was one stroke back with a 113 and Tyler Michael recorded a 116.
Bellefontaine shot a 406. Liam Harris led the Chiefs with an 82. Jared Salyer had a 94, Kody Watts had a 114, Joseph Boop shot 116, Austin Hammond had a 135 and Aidan Mifsud shot 137.

Triad downs Mechanicsburg
Triad’s boys golf team started off the season with a win Wednesday as it defeated Mechanicsburg 186-197 at Urbana Country Club in an Ohio Heritage Conference match.
Cole Pond was medalist to lead the Cardinals with a low of 45. Ryan Gross and Maison Johnson both shot 46s and Devin Butz had a 49.
Triad faces Cedarville and Springfield Catholic Central on Friday in another OHC contest.
Riverside girls fall to Miami East
Riverside’s girls golf team opened the season with a narrow loss to Miami East on Wednesday at Lakeland Golf Course.
The Vikings edged the Pirates 216-223.
Rob Estep led the Pirates with a 54. Malaina Jenkins was next with a 56, Mia Stallard and Sasha Stotler had 57s and Maddie Sanford added a 66.
Riverside is back in action Thursday against Minster at Arrowhead Golf Course.
