Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office responded about 9:45 a.m. Friday to Osgood State Bank, 165 E. Lake St., Lakeview, in reference vandalism to an ATM outside of the building.
The branch manager advised that the ATM had been vandalized about 8:40 p.m. Thursday. She showed deputies a surveillance video that showed a man walking up and using the ATM and after a few minutes, he reportedly began kicking at the ATM. The suspect reportedly kicked the ATM approximately 10 times, breaking the panel around the card reader.
Friday afternoon, the branch manager provided a tip regarding the suspect’s name.
Deputies spoke with the named male suspect, a 27-year-old Huntsville resident, at his residence. He stated he had used the ATM and the screen showed his card was locked and his information was still on the screen. He stated he didn’t want anyone else to get his card, so he began kicking the machine to get his personal information off the screen.
The suspect told deputies he will pay for any damages. A report has been forwarded to the Logan County Prosecutor’s Office for consideration of a vandalism charge.
