Bellefontaine’s girls basketball team put up a good battle with Marion Harding for a half on Monday, but the Chiefs could not keep it up in the second half for a 66-46 loss to the visiting Presidents.
The Chieftains fall to 9-9 on the season.
Harding held a 17-15 edge after the opening quarter and outscored BHS 17-14 in the second quarter. That sent the Presidents into halftime with a 34-29 advantage.
The Presidents outscored the Chieftains 16-11 in the third quarter to take a 10-point lead (50-40). Harding pulled away in the fourth quarter with a 16-6 run.
Hannah Rader sparked the Chieftains with 15 points, Carmen Shumaker had 12 points and Lexxi Gorham had eight points.
In junior varsity action, Bellefontaine defeated Marion Harding 27-17. Tayteum Vigansky led the Chiefs with nine points.
Bellefontaine travels to Kenton Ridge on Wednesday for a Central Buckeye Conference game.
