A donation from a city financial services business is helping the Holland Theatre broaden the horizons of local youths through a new program called 5 Spot for Youth.
Anyone age 17 and under will be able to buy $5 tickets to any show at the Holland thanks to a $5,000 gift from the Schumacher Group of Ameriprise Private Wealth Advisory Practice.
“The potential for this is remarkable,” the theater’s managing director Chris Westhoff said. “We really want more kids to come and be exposed to the programming we are offering and we also don’t want parents to not come because of the price to bring their children.”
“Our focus is on families being able to attend together,” Jane Core Thomas, the investment firm’s client services manager, said.
“We teamed up with the Holland and LoCo Art Spot because giving back to the community is an important part of the Schmumacher Group’s philosophy, especially to young people in arts and culture,” financial adviser Jeff Martin added.
