Five suspects were charged with sex offenses in indictments handed up Tuesday by a Logan County grand jury.
One of the suspects, Wayne E. Jacobs, 47, at large, is a repeat sex offender. He was charged with two counts of rape, each a first-degree felony.
He is accused of sexual conduct with a Bellefontaine woman who was physically and/or mentally impaired at the time, Bellefontaine Police detectives report.
His first conviction came in 1991 when he was given a prison sentence of 4-15 years for felonious sexual penetration. He was found guilty of sexual battery in 2004 and sentenced to community control.
He is currently incarcerated in the Logan County Jail.
Brandon M. Murray, 35, of Medway, has been charged with rape, a first-degree felony, and gross sexual imposition, a fourth-degree felony, for alleged sexual conduct with a female friend in a vehicle outside Froggy’s, 11065 County Road 239, Lakeview.
The alleged assault occurred in June after a night of drinking at the swim up pool. The 25-year-old victim was intoxicated as was the suspect’s wife, who passed out in the vehicle, according to Logan County Sheriff’s detectives.
Miles K. Ball, 31, at large, has been charged with rape and two counts of aggravated robbery, all first-degree felonies.
Russells Point police report he allegedly entered a village home Oct. 17 to retrieve a pawned item. He was confronted by the female victim and he sexually assaulted her.
Anyone who knows the suspect’s whereabouts can call the village at (937)843-2245 and follow the prompts to the police department to reach an officer or leave a message.
Mitchell R. Thompson, 25, of 5159 E. State Route 274, Rushsylvania, was charged with rape, a first-degree felony, and two counts of sexual battery, third-degree felonies, for sexual conduct with a female who was intoxicated and unaware of what was happening.
Sheriff’s detectives report the two were at a rural West Liberty residence as part of a gathering of acquaintances. The victim had too much to drink, became sick and passed out. She woke to find the suspect raping her, detectives report.
Dennis R. Belk, 68, of Marion, allegedly engaged in sexual contact with a relative under the age of 13 over several years dating back to 2008.
He faces four counts of gross sexual imposition, third-degree felonies.
The alleged incidents were reported to sheriff’s detectives Sept. 16 and happened during family gatherings at an Indian Lake residence.
Lima residents charged in gun thefts
Lana L. Shipman, 48, and Tony M. Woods, 33, both of Lima, each was charged with burglary, a second-degree felony, and 19 counts of grand theft involving a firearm, third-degree felonies. They allegedly broke into an Indian Lake area home Sept. 14 and stole 19 firearms.
Woods allegedly knew the victim, who was out of town at the time of the break-in.
A neighbor alerted authorities to the burglary.
