Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report a 3-year-old boy was receiving medical treatment Wednesday for a firearm-related injury to his hand that occurred at 5070 County Road 64, DeGraff.
About 2:40 p.m. Wednesday, the sheriff’s office received a call from representatives of Memorial Hospital in Marysville, stating a 3-year-old was in the emergency room after sustaining an injury to his hand caused by a firearm being discharged.
Deputies said the child did not shoot himself, but gas pressure between the cylinder and the barrel caused the injury to his hand.
The child’s mother took him to the emergency room for treatment.
The boy was transferred to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus for further treatment.
Detectives responded to the hospital and to the C.R. 64 residence.
The matter remains under investigation.
