Driver Katelyn M. Bennett, 16, of Zanesfield, and her passenger, Brooklin Fry, 16, of Bellefontaine, each was transported by Perry Township squad to Mary Rutan Hospital for minor injuries sustained in a crash Tuesday.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report she was operating a westbound car about 2:05 p.m. on County Road 10 just west of Township Road 145 when she attempted to pass a tractor hauling a manure spreader operated by Bradey Ackley of East Liberty.
The tractor made a left turn into a private drive, and Katelyn reportedly took evasive action to avoid hitting the tractor. She drove off the right side of the road, striking a ditch and rocks, causing heavy damage to her car.
Katelyn was cited for improper passing. She and her passenger were wearing their seat belts.
Summons issued for littering
Isaac Yeargan, 18, of 1024 W. State Route 245, was issued a summons for littering following a complaint received Thursday.
Deputies report that the complaint involved four pay-as-you-throw bags that were dumped along County Road 47 near S.R. 245.
During their investigation, deputies learned that Mr. Yeargan had been instructed by his employer to take the trash bags to a recycling center. He said he was afraid of being caught for suspended driving on one of the recycling center’s cameras.
