Two local men pleaded guilty to felony assault charges during hearings Monday in Logan County Common Pleas Court.
Branden Wells, 35, of Bellefontaine, admitted a felonious assault charge for repeatedly beating his friend over a lost wallet.
On Sept. 6, Mr. Wells and Mark Jarrells had been drinking heavily, prosecutors report. The night turned sour, however, when Mr. Wells lost or misplaced his wallet and then accused Mr. Jarrells of taking it.
The defendant then repeatedly struck the victim in the head and face, fracturing an orbital bone and breaking his nose, Assistant Prosecutor Dan Huston said.
Mr. Wells reportedly called for a medical squad and admitted he caused the injuries. Mr. Jarrells was eventually taken to Grant Medical Center, Columbus, for surgery.
Mr. Wells will be sentenced April 3.
• A Lakeview man admitted an aggravated assault charge in connection with a fight at the Pink House that resulted in a stabbing.
Charles Colvin, 55, pleaded no contest and was found guilty of the reduced charge stemming from a Sept. 4 incident at the 600 Jay Ave. bar.
He allegedly stabbed Raynell Robinson after Mr. Robinson accused him and others of breaking into a storage unit rented by Mr. Robinson’s nephew.
Robert J. Price, 43, who has now been charged with breaking into the storage unit, was also badly injured in the fracas, Mr. Huston said.
Sentencing was set for April 3.
