Mary Rutan representatives announce the addition of Matthew Schilling, D.O. as a provider at Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. He is board-certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Family Medicine.
Raised in the small town of Goffstown, N.H., Dr. Schilling knew he wanted to be a doctor at a young age. In high school, he excelled in biological sciences, which propelled him to a Bachelor of Science in Biology degree from North Park University in Chicago.
He began his career at Dana Farber Cancer Institute to gain experience before medical school. During the five years before medical school, he obtained valuable work experience and spent time globe-trotting to learn more about medicine and the world.
From his travels, no place confirmed his desire to be a physician more than his visit to the Home of Hope in Bangalore, India, where he spent time caring for the impoverished.
He was accepted into medical school the day after returning from India and received his medical degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his residency in family medicine at Our Lady of Lourdes Memorial Hospital in New York, where he served as chief resident.
“We are excited to welcome Dr. Schilling,” said Chad Ross, Mary Rutan Hospital president and CEO. “Dr. Schilling brings a unique opportunity to lend his expertise at two of our locations by seeing patients at both Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. His commitment to illness prevention and wellness will bring great value to our organization and the patients we serve.”
“I am eager to join the Mary Rutan team of providers and to meet community members,” Dr. Schilling said. “I pride myself on establishing long-lasting relationships with my patients and am dedicated to ensuring their well-being. My focus is not only on treating a current illness but to lend support and most importantly try and prevent illnesses from ever occurring.”
Dr. Schilling will see patients of all ages at two locations; Mary Rutan Internal Medicine, located at 2231 Timber Trail in Bellefontaine and Mary Rutan Pediatrics at 118 Dowell Avenue in Bellefontaine.
