When you watch Anthony Zamora play the piano, your first thought might be to wonder how anyone’s fingers could move that fast. Of course, that’s what the most talented pianists do, and Zamora definitely has the talent. And that skill will be on display for the community thanks to a free concert Tuesday, Dec. 20, at 7 p.m. at Gretna Brethren Church.
The son of Chris and Amey Zamora, this Rushylvania native moved to Nashville, Tenn., to attend Lipscomb University after graduating from Calvary Christian School in 2019.
While at Lipscomb, he studied piano performance under Professor Dr. Jerome Reed. Besides learning some of the most difficult piano compositions, Anthony has performed as the pianist with the university’s exclusive Avalon Trio since August 2020, and won the school’s Award for Excellence in Musical Performance in 2022.
Anthony also had the opportunity to study at the Interharmony Music Festival in Acqui Terme, Italy, with the Avalon Trio last summer. Up next, he is preparing to audition for the master’s program in piano at several graduate schools, including the University of Indiana, Florida State University and the University of Colorado, Boulder.
Tuesday night’s recital, which is open to the public, will include works from Bach, Beethoven, Liszt and two separate preludes by Rachmaninoff.
