A rough third quarter plagued Bellefontaine’s girls basketball team in a 38-30 loss to visiting Urbana on Wednesday.
The Chiefs are now 1-1 on the season. Urbana improves to 4-0.
Urbana led 15-13 after one quarter and the Hillclimbers held a 19-17 lead at halftime.
Urbana opened up some breathing room in the third period, outscoring the Chiefs 8-1 to take a 27-18 lead.
The Hillclimbers were able to stay in control in the fourth quarter to get the win.
Lexi Robinson led the Chiefs with 10 points. Emma Middaugh had seven points and Carmen Shumaker chipped in six points.
Peyton Mounce led Urbana with a game-high 14 points.
In the junior varsity game, the Chiefs won 33-17. Alexza Clifton led Bellefontaine with 15 points.
The Chiefs are back in action Saturday at home against Tecumseh.
