Benjamin Logan’s varsity volleyball team opened the season Saturday with a four-set win over Lima Central Catholic. The Raiders won by scores of 25-12, 24-26, 25-17, 25-16.
In the win, Lynzee Cronkleton dished out 21 assists, was 21-23 serving with 15 points and three aces, Brielle Moorhouse handed out 21 assists and added seven points and an ace, Mia Stahler recorded 19 digs, Makenna LeVan tallied 12 kills, Lily Makin, Kyndal Cronkleton and Macy Matthews added eight kills apiece and Lily Blackburn tallied seven kills.
The JV Raiders beat the Thunderbirds in straight sets 25-14, 25-13. For BL, Brooks Myers accounted for six kills and four aces, Lexi Archer added four kills, five assists and one ace, Skylar Miracle tallied three kills, Bailee Stover recorded three digs and Madelyn Harmon handed out six assists and added five aces. Ben Logan hosts Findlay on Tuesday.
Pirates fall to Jackson Center
Riverside’s varsity volleyball team was defeated by Jackson Center 23-25, 25-15, 25-19, 25-21 on Saturday in the season opener.
Jenna Woods powered the Pirates with 19 kills and nine blocks, Alaina Snow had 26 assists and four aces and Sasha Stotler added 10 kills and six blocks.
In the junior varsity match, the Tigers won 25-16, 25-19. For Riverside, Jayden Hoffer and Aubree Huston led the defense and Cassie May recorded seven assists.
Indian Lake bounces Wapak, Sidney
Indian Lake defeated Wapakoneta and Sidney on Saturday to open the season. The Lakers won over Wapak 17-25, 25-22, 25-23.
For the Lakers, Stephanie Altstaetter was 15-15 serving with six digs, nine assists, two blocks and four kills, Shania Fruchey tallied 12 kills and one block, Ally Kinney had seven kills and one block, Megan Kimbler was 10-10 on serve receive and had six digs, Kendall Cotterman was 8-8 serving and had 12 digs, Katie Roby was 17-18 serve receive and had 35 digs and Halle Roby had 20 assists and seven digs. The Lakers beat Sidney 26-24, 25-20.
Kinney had seven kills, Altstaetter had six kills and nine digs, Katie Roby was 8-8 serving and had 17 digs, Cotterman was 8-8 serving, 10-12 serve receive and had four digs and Halle Roby added 14 assists. The Lakers are 2-0 on the season.
Indian Lake’s junior varsity team lost to Wapak 25-14, 28-16 and fell to Sidney 25-23, 27-25.
Against Wapak, Tori Roby was 11-12 Hitting, Devin Rice was 11-12 serving with three aces and Abigail Elliott was 7-7 on serve receive.
In the loss to Sidney, Kayla Schwaderer was 16-17serving with five aces, Elliott was 9-10 serving with three aces and was 7-8 hitting and Kenzie Dixon was 10-11 on serve receive.
Spartans lose to Milford Christian
Calvary Christian’s varsity volleyball team was defeated by Milford Christian 25-21, 18-25, 11-25, 26-24, 15-12 on Friday.
Abby Jenkins and Julie Childers led the way in passing and in serves received. Erin Young had the most kills and Emma Patton led in assists and service points. Abby Jenkins led in aces.
Spartans go 1-1 in tri-match
Calvary Christian’s varsity volleyball team split a tri-match Saturday, losing to Lima Temple Christian and beating Monclova Christian.
LTC won 25-10, 25-12 over Calvary. The Spartans bounced back with a 25-15, 25-12 win over Monclova.
Ruby Slemmons led CC in aces and points, Abby Jenkins led in kills and serve receive and Jayla Wilson led in assists. The Spartans are now 1-2 on the season.
