Ridgemont Superintendent Sally Henrick shared with board members at their Thursday evening meeting regarding preparations for the 2021-22 school year, which begins Wednesday, Aug. 18.
She said parents will soon be receiving information about a new form of school-to-home communication that the district will be using this year. ParentSquare is designed to keep parents informed and facilitate participation at school. It provides a safe way for the school principal, teachers, staff, and parents/guardians to: send and receive school and class information; share pictures and files; see calendar items; and sign up to volunteer.
Additionally, the district is asking parents to log in to Final Forms and update all forms for their students. Once Final Forms are updated, individuals will be added to the district’s e-mail list to receive important information.
Parents can direct questions to the Welcome Center, which is slated for open Wednesday, July 28. The phone number is 937-354-2141.
Also at the meeting, the board approved prices for 2021-2022 season athletic passes, including the free senior passes for home athletic events for senior citizens ages 62 and older who currently live in the Ridgemont School District.
No prior lifetime senior passes will be accepted and beginning this year, all senior passes will need to be renewed annually. Seniors are asked to will need to sign up for your senior pass prior to attending their first game.
Beginning Aug. 9, senior passes will be available in the Welcome Center with proof of residency and age (driver’s license, Golden Buckeye Card, passport, etc.).
In personnel matters, Danielle Poland was approved for a contract as the grades 7-9 science teacher for the 2021-2022 school year. She is from the Kenton area and received degrees from The Ohio State University, the University of Toledo and the University of Findlay, she has taught in Ben Logan, Kenton City and Allen County ESC.
Members also accepted resignations from Katie Lafontaine, intervention specialist; Ernie Holycross, transportation supervisor, and Laura Fabian, office assistant.
In other action, the board approved:
• a salary adjustment for Emily Eckstein;
• the classified substitute pay schedule for 2021-22;
• the certified teacher substitute pay of $100 per day;
• a special education agreement with Kenton City Schools and an agreement with the Midwest Regional Educational Service Center 2021-22 school year; and
• the advertisement of bus maintenance bids; and
• the Ridgemont Activities Boosters as a school organization.
