A passenger in a vehicle stopped around 8 p.m. Wednesday by officers of the Washington Township Police Department was arrested for possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia following a search of the vehicle.
Travis Wilkins, 26, of Urbana, was charged with felony possession of methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was a front-seat passenger in a vehicle operated by Amanda Murray, 28, of South Vienna, that officers stopped in the area of State Route 708 and U.S. Route 33 for failure to use a turn signal.
Upon making contact with the driver, Wilkins, officers reported her to be, “overly nervous displaying behavior that appeared suspicious.” The driver and passenger were asked to exit the vehicle and officers were given consent to the search the silver van.
Officers located a blue book bag on the passenger-side floorboard, which Wilkins advised officers was already there when he got in the vehicle. A search of the bag turned up a black wallet with Wilkins’ name on it. Officers also located a pink cup in the book bag with a Methamphetamine pipe inside; also discovered was a bottle of butane, two torch lighters, and a small wooden box containing a bag with a white crystal substance that Wilkins advised officers was Methamphetamine.
Wilkins reportedly told officers he’d been using meth daily for about a year. He was lodged in Logan County Jail.
