Terry R. Rice, 53, of 1000 Garfield Ave., Lot 59, was charged Wednesday with domestic violence.
Officers responded to the residence at 7:08 p.m. after a callers told dispatchers the defendant had assaulted his 15-year-old son.
Kolton Rice told officers his father slammed his head into the victim’s head, leaving a bruise on the teen’s forehead. The suspect admitted to the assault, telling officers he lashed out during an argument his son.
Officers noted Rice had been consuming alcohol.
He was arrested and lodged in the Logan County Jail.
Kolton completed a statement for officers and they took photographs of his injury.
Joyriding teens charged
Two 13-year-old Bellefontaine boys were charged Oct. 23 with delinquency disorderly conduct after they were stopped from riding electric shopping carts at Kroger, 2129 S. Main St., but refused to leave the property.
Officers arrived at the store around 9:05 p.m. and spoke with the boys and store staff.
The boys said they returned the carts to the front of the store and exited when instructed to do so by employees. Three employees said the boys ignored multiple requests to stop using the carts and leave. They also report the boys screamed and cursed at store staff.
Both boys were transported home and released to guardians.
Scams reported to police
A rural Bellefontaine resident told officers she received a suspicious call Wednesday from a woman with a foreign accent, claiming to be a Bellefontaine police officer
The resident told police she was immediately suspicious due to the caller’s accent and the fact the caller mispronounced the city name. She received two more calls but did not answer.
All three calls came up on her cellular phone caller identification as coming from the Bellefontaine Police Department.
• Employees at Dunham’s Sports, 2061 S. Main St., reported an attempt by a woman to use what they believe was a bogus $100 bill around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
The suspect, a black female with long black hair wearing a white sweatshirt, black pants and white shoes, was informed the store would not accept the bill with fuzzy print and an uncommon texture.
They asked for another form of payment for the $17 sweatshirt, but the woman has just $3. She took the bill and said she would change for it at Krogers, 2129 S. Main St., and return to purchase the sweatshirt.
Officers were provide a camera screen shot photo and searched for the suspect. They were unable to locate her.
