Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched about 7 p.m. Thursday to 3421 County Road 18, Bellefontaine, on a report of an individual who had sustained a suspected self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
Joyce N. King, 47, of that address, was pronounced dead at the scene. She was located nearby a pole barn on the property and a revolver was found on the ground beside her, deputies said.
A family member reportedly had found King at that location and called 911.
The Logan County Coroner’s Office also was called to the scene. King’s body was transported by Macochee EMS to Mary Rutan Hospital. A Local Outreach to Survivors of Suicide team member responded to assist the family.
Criminal damaging to mailbox reported
Deputies responded Thursday evening to 6828 State Route 292, Zanesfield, on a report of a mailbox that had been shot with an unknown firearm.
The morning of April 25, deputies also responded to 4214 County Road 28, West Liberty, on a report of a mailbox that had been shot, as previously reported. Deputies observed two larger holes on the right side of the mailbox and one hole on the left side.
