United Christian Services Pantry continues operations
Russells Point Mayor Robin Reames signed a proclamation Wednesday declaring a state of emergency exists in the Village of Russells Point, and the municipal building has been closed to the public until further notice.
“This action is taken to protect the lives of the citizens of the Village of Russells Point, and to protect the public safety and local commerce from the dangerous condition crated by COVID-19,” she said.
The United Christian Services Food Pantry will continue its operations out of the Russells Point Municipal Building as this service is critical to families in need during the state of emergency, officials said.
The food pantry personnel will direct recipients for distribution. Recipients will not be permitted to enter the building to protect the health of the volunteers staffing the food pantry.
Officials also reported the village’s juvenile curfew is changed by emergency order from 10 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
The March 22 yard waste collection also is indefinitely postponed.
The Board of Public Affairs meeting and the Strategic Planning Committee meeting scheduled for March 23 and April 2, respectively, are canceled.
The golf cart registration deadline of midnight April 30 will be extended to allow all citizens a reasonable amount of time for registration once this emergency subsides.
For village-related business, citizens are encouraged to use the drop box outside the municipal building, telephone, fax and e-mail to handle village-related business and concerns.
Citizens are also encouraged to check the village website, www.russellspoint-oh.gov, for updates. All emergency health concerns should be directed to 911.
“All citizens are called upon and directed to comply with necessary emergency measures, to cooperate with pubic officials and in executing emergency operational plans, to obey and comply with the lawful direction of properly identified officers.
Together we will overcome the temporary challenges we face,” the mayor said.
