Elected Officials Breakfast set for March 12
The Logan County Board of Developmental Disabilities appointed their board officers for 2020 Thursday during the annual organizational meeting.
Bonnie Versele was re-elected board president, Valerie Robb was re-elected board vice president and Frank Giannola was re-elected recording secretary.
During the regular monthly meeting that followed meeting, Superintendent Saul Bauer shared an invitation for the annual Elected Officials Breakfast, slated for 8 a.m. Thursday March 12, with Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities Director Jeff Davis featured as the keynote speaker.
The theme this year is “Celebrating 60 Years, Creating a New View of the World.” At the breakfast, the agency will show a video depicting all the changes during the past 60 years and detailing the history of the LCBDD and services to people with developmental disabilities.
Superintendent Bauer also discussed the 2020 Financial Mission and Goals.
The financial mission of the agency is “to develop and maintain sound fiscal practices which will help to preserve an appropriate an adequate service structure for people with disabilities in Logan County. Leading with sound fiscal management is fundamental to advancing the agencies mission and vision both now and for years to come,” officials said.
In other board business, the board approved the strategic plan progress report, which includes the achievements in 2019 and goals for 2020. Next month, the superintendent will provide the board training on the strategic plan and goals.
Members receive four hours of annual training, and this month, Jason Moyer trained board members on Trauma Informed Care.
Superintendent Bauer reviewed the Business Plan/Grant for provider supports. Three agencies applied for this grant and those applications will be reviewed by the management team next week, officials said.
In financial business, the board ended 2019 with the general fund at 85 percent utilization and the Community Support Fund is 85 percent utilized. Revenues are 102 percent collected while the Community Support Fund is 319 percent collected.
In other organizational matters, the following members will continue to sit on the executive finance committee: Robb, Scott Steiner and Versele. They will meet the Friday prior to the board meeting at noon.
Members Bridget Hawkins, Allen Huffman and Giannola will continue to serve on the ethics committee, which meets at 5 p.m. the first Thursday of the month, prior to LCBDD board meetings.
In final business, the board approved $7,000 to the Summer Academy and $4,200 to HUB and approved hiring a maintenance supervisor to mentor with the current supervisor Gary Morris until he retires.
The finance committee meets at noon Friday, Feb. 28, in the board office conference room. The next regular board meeting is 5:30 p.m. Thursday, March 5, in the board office conference room. These meetings are open to the public.
