Gillis Woolum, 91, long-time Indian Lake resident, went to be with our Father in Heaven on Nov 23, 2019, at Memorial Hospital in, Marysville.
Gil Woolum was born April 1, 1928, in Williamson, West Virginia, to Gillis and Gertrude Woolum.
He is preceded in death by his father Gillis Woolum, mother, Gertrude (Samons) Woolum; wife, Betty Jean (BJ) Woolum; son, Robert Alan Woolum; and daughter, Karen Eileen Woolum.
He is survived by his daughter Sherry (Marty) Pesut, of Virginia Beach, Va.; Gary (Cathy) Pennington of Kettering; Gillis Anthony (Susan) Woolum of Dayton; William Arthur (Karen) Woolum of Marysville; and many grand children and great-grandchildren.
Gil was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He served during Post WWII in occupied Japan as a crane operator and chemical warfare specialist for 15 months. He was also a member of Indian Lake Eagles and Indian Lake Moose Lodge. He was a regular contributor to many causes that he strongly believed in, veterans and Indian heritage organizations to name a few.
He was employed by Dayton Power and Light for over 40 years. He loved to fish, play cards and spend time with family and friends. He was always there for his family who he always dearly loved and cared for.
