Food drive efforts benefit St. Vincent de Paul food bank
Indian Lake students collect canned goods for food drive donation to local pantry
Indian Lake students have loaded up on non-perishable donations in hopes of helping local families for the Thanksgiving holiday.
The Indian Lake High School Key Club hosted an All-District Food Drive during the month of November. Nearly 3,900 items were collected. Key Club members filled up several vehicles and took the canned food items, cake and bread mixes and other boxed foods to the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry in Russells Point ahead of the holiday break.
Students at ILHS donated 609 items with Ryan Stanford’s class bringing in the most.
ILES students collected 1,377 items and Abbott’s class had the highest number of donations.
Finally, ILMS students were proud to bring in the most items in the district with 1,892 nonperishables. Chris Anders’ 6th graders were the top giving class. Those classes will receive donuts courtesy of the ILHS Key Club and ILMS Builders Club.
The canned food donations are particularly needed during the holiday season.
Thousands of non-perishable items donated to the Russells Point pantry will stay local, benefitting families around Indian Lake.
