BHS student receives national ROTC scholarship

Wisner scholarship

Bellefontaine High School senior Aaron Wisner, a son of Ed and Shelly Wisner, recently was awarded a full college scholarship and educational grant through the Army ROTC. In the Army ROTC’s seventh brigade (covering Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Kentucky, and Tennessee), Aaron was selected as one of 34 students awarded the scholarship in the first of five rounds of awards, a highly competitive process. The average value of the four-year scholarship is approximately $100,000, but depends on the college the student selects to attend. Aaron plans to attend the University of North Georgia next fall to study criminal justice. As a recipient of the national scholarship, he can select any participating college and ROTC program in the country to use his scholarship. The scholarship includes all educational fees, a textbook allowance, school supplies, required equipment, an educational grant to provide a monthly stipend, and many schools offer additional incentives such as reduced or free room and board.
