Bellefontaine Elementary School students learned about a variety of aspects of health in creative and hands-on ways during the seventh annual BES Health Fair, which took place throughout the entire school day Friday at learning stations staffed by 42 community volunteers.
Topics for the day included the areas of physical fitness, health and nutrition and safety awareness.
The lessons learned from the day were memorable for students, including blending smoothies using power from a bike, to frying a hot dog to learning about the dangers of fallen power lines.
Volunteers who devoted their time for the health fair included:
Physical Fitness — Boyd Dance Studio, Dance Fuzion, Homegrown Yoga and Mary Rutan Pediatrics.
Health and Nutrition — Community Health and Wellness Partners of Logan County, Logan County Farmer’s Market, Logan County Health District, Logan County OSU Extension Office, Mary Rutan Hospital, Mary Rutan Pediatrics, Swartz Family Eyecare LLC.
Safety Awareness — Bellefontaine Elementary Speech and Counseling, Bellefontaine High School DARE Club, Bellefontaine Fire Department, Bellefontaine Police Department, Gloria’s Tumbling, Logan County Electric Cooperative, Ohio Fitness and Martial Arts, The Stahlers with Canine Companions for Independence and TRC Inc.
