Chelsie P. Bradenburg, 24, of 160 W. Harrison St., Lakeview, was charged with possession of drugs and was lodged in the Logan County Jail as a result of an incident Wednesday afternoon.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office were notified about 4:35 p.m. by mental health professionals who had met with Bradenburg during an appointment that day.
The mental health professionals had determined she posed a threat to herself and also suspected she was under the influence of some kind of stimulant.
Deputies located her vehicle on U.S. Route 33 near Harrison Street in Lakeview and conducted a traffic stop. Bradenburg was identified as the driver. An Indian Lake State Park officer also assisted at the scene.
Upon deputies’ arrival, they said the defendant began recording the interaction using her cellular phone and she expressed her displeasure about not being able to drive away.
While interacting with her, deputies said her speech was very rapid and she couldn’t remain still while sitting in her vehicle. She reportedly told deputies about her “spiritual awakening” and that her spirits “told her deputies were going to pull her over” before they did.
Deputies told the defendant she either needed to step out of the vehicle and willingly seek mental health treatment, or she would be placed under arrest for her safety.
She initially resisted deputies’ efforts to place her under arrest. She was transported to the Logan County Jail, and before entering the jail, she turned over a crystal substance that appeared to be methamphetamine, deputies said. Additional charges of resisting arrest and disorderly conduct also have been sent to the Logan County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
