Tricia M. Tracey, 30, of Marysville, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, endangering children and a probation violation related to a traffic stop Saturday afternoon.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office on patrol about 4:30 p.m. on County Road 10 observed a vehicle off the roadway in front of 3690 C.R. 10 and stopped to check on the driver.
While approaching the vehicle, deputies said the vehicle’s engine was running and the driver was slumped over the front seat. They also noticed a small child in the back seat, later identified by the driver, Tracey, as her 1-year-old son.
While speaking with Tracey, deputies observed that her actions and speech were sluggish. She initially told deputies she hadn’t slept well the previous evening and said she pulled over because she was “afraid she would crash and hurt someone.”
Upon further questioning, the defendant told deputies she had used illegal narcotics “about 1 a.m. yesterday.” Deputies performed a consent search of the vehicle and did not find any illegal contraband inside the vehicle.
A family member also arrived at the scene and was able to take custody of the child.
Tracey was placed under arrest and transported to the Logan County Jail, where she agreed to participate in a drug recognition evaluation. A urine screen administered to the defendant reportedly was positive for THC, cocaine and percocet.
• David J. Shaull, 54, of Findlay, was charged with OVI during a traffic stop just before midnight Saturday in West Liberty.
Deputies on patrol in the area observed Shaull’s vehicle traveling on south Detroit Street drive straight through a red light, without slowing or stopping, at the intersection of Columbus Street.
While speaking with the driver, deputies observed that he displayed signs of impairment and they also noticed open cans of beer inside his vehicle.
Shaull submitted to a portion of field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest. At the jail, he refused to submit to a breath test. He also was cited for failure to obey a traffic control device and was released to a sober person.
