Mary Barker, 36, of Bellefontaine, was charged with felony county of possession of drugs and trafficking in drugs as a result of a Wednesday, Nov. 23, traffic stop.
Officers of the Washington Township Police Department conducted a traffic stop about 3:35 p.m. on State Route 235 near County Road 54 for failure to use a turn signal and an exhaust violation.
Upon making contact with the driver, Barker, officers said she was overly nervous for the traffic stop and was reaching around inside of the vehicle after officers asked her not to.
K9 Thor of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office was called to the scene. The canine indicated to the odor of an illegal drug and a probable cause search was conducted.
During the search, officers located cocaine and fentanyl inside of the vehicle.
The defendant was taken into custody and transported to the Logan County Jail. While en route to the jail, Barker reportedly admitted she was taking the cocaine and fentanyl to sell in the Indian Lake region.
