Vicky L. Goble, 52, of 7160 North St., Belle Center, was issued a summons for theft related to a previously reported incident Wednesday evening at the Huntsville Dollar General, 6793 Lima St., Huntsville.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office met with Goble at the sheriff’s office at 9 p.m. Thursday, who said she wanted to turn in a wallet she found the previous evening at the Huntsville store.
About 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, deputies had responded to the business after a woman said she had left the items in a shopping cart. Upon reviewing Dollar General video surveillance, deputies identified a pair of suspects who notice the wallet in the cart and then reportedly cover it up with some items in the store. After the suspects finished their shopping, they allegedly left the store with the wallet and phone.
Goble said she had been shopping at the store with her granddaughter when she noticed the wallet in the shopping cart. Deputies questioned her about why she didn’t turn the wallet over to the clerk upon finding it. She said she thought it was best to turn a wallet over to police. Then deputies asked her why it took her about 24 hours to turn in the wallet if that was the case.
The investigating deputy followed up with Goble at her residence Sunday. Deputies said Goble also was in possession of the victim’s cellular phone and told them she “didn’t know how to answer it” when deputies had called it previously. After speaking with her, she was issued the summons.
• Hubert P. Wells III, 35, of 125 1/2 W. Auburn Ave., Bellefontaine, was charged with theft and was lodged in the Logan County Jail related to an incident early Saturday morning at Mad River Mountain, 1000 Snow Valley Road.
Deputies were dispatched to the ski resort about 2 a.m. on a report of a theft from a vehicle. An employee of the ski resort told deputies he found Wells inside his vehicle and that the defendant had taken two packs of cigarettes and a folding pocket knife from inside the vehicle.
Wells apologized to deputies and to the vehicle owner multiple times, stating he thought it looked like the vehicle might be abandoned by a tourist since it had been parked there for awhile. He related that he was looking for money inside the vehicle.

During the stop, deputies observed multiple open containers of alcohol inside the vehicle. Gentry submitted to field sobriety tests, which he passed, deputies said.
