New Yorker assaults sister
A 28-year-old New York man was lodged in the Logan County Jail after he assaulted his sister inside her sport utility vehicle while it was parked outside Waffle House, 1133 N. Main St. around 11:55 p.m. Wednesday.
David E. Guider, of Binghamton, N.Y., was charged with felonious assault, felony abduction and/or restraint and misdemeanor counts of obstructing official business, aggravated menacing, public intoxication and resisting arrest.
Witnesses and staff at Waffle House reported Guider and Kimberly Birt were ordered out after Guider became disorderly and began cursing. The two went to Birt’s SUV and surveillance video record Guider assaulting his sister inside the vehicle.
Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department observed blood running down the left side of her face and neck and bruise to her mouth which appeared to come from a previous incident.
Birt was evaluated by medics with a Bellefontaine squad but she refused transport to a hospital for treatment. She also refused to permit officers to take photographs of her injuries and she would not complete a statement.
Guider had left and was found at Comfort Inn, 260 Northview Drive.
He was uncooperative with officers and was forcibly taken into custody. Once inside a cruiser, he began to bang his head against a plexiglass divider.
An officer rode with him in the cruiser to restrain him during the trip to the jail. While he was searched at the jail, he stated he was going to kill his sister when he got out.
