McVAY |
Detectives with the Bellefontaine Police Department wrapped up a three-month investigation and arrested Brittany McVay, 26, of Valley Hi, for felony theft and falsification.
In mid-November, she reported her purse was stolen from her car while it was parked at Wal-Mart, 2281 S. Main St.
Detectives allege she lied about the theft as a cover story.
She was working for Steve Austin’s Auto Group and was to deliver a $9,000 cash payment for a vehicle transaction at the Indian Lake sales location to the Bellefontaine car dealership.
Detectives say she kept the money.
She was arrested Thursday and was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
She is the wife of Richard A. McVay, 31, who is currently awaiting trial for felonious assault, a second-degree felony; intimidation; and tampering with evidence for attacking a 77-year-old man in Marysville’s Eljer Park in late January.
William J. Beightler, 30, of Marysville, also faces charges of tampering with evidence and four counts of obstructing justice.
More charges may come from the investigation, detectives report.
