Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department are investigating an aggravated robbery in which an 82-year-old woman was knocked down and struck in the face by a white male suspect around 8 p.m. Wednesday outside her home in the 1500 block of south Main Street.
The victim told officers she had just returned home after purchasing groceries when the suspect approached wearing blue jeans, black short-sleeved T-shirt and a medical mask demanding she give him her money.
The suspect struck her twice in the face and knocked to the ground, she told officers.
While she was on the ground, the suspect reached into the car and took a blue bag and snatched up her car key which she dropped on the ground. Lee stood back up to confront the suspect who pushed her down before running off northbound.
Anyone with information can call the department at (937)599-1010.
A neighbor posted a photo of her facial injuries on Facebook. She told the neighbor the suspect was about 5 feet, 6 inches tall weighing around 140 pounds in his late 20s or early 30s.
