West Liberty-Salem’s Acme baseball team battled past host London 5-2 on Monday to advance to the district finals.
WL-Salem, which came out of the loser’s bracket, will face London again for the district championship today at 6 p.m. at London High School. The winner advances to the Acme state tournament in Celina.
WL-Salem led 3-1 over London after the fourth inning. WL-Salem tacked on two more runs in the top of the seventh, while London was only able to drive in one more run.
Offensively for the winners, Levi Moell went 2-2 with a double, Ben Hyland went 2-2, Trevor Burden had two RBI and Chase Humphrey had one RBI.
Hyland recorded the win on the mound with seven strikeouts and gave up two hits. Thomas Allen added three strikeouts.
