Tigers now 8-0 in league play after win over Triad
West Liberty-Salem’s boys basketball team has a target attached to it, but has stood up to every league challenge to date.
The Tigers survived another big test Monday night, holding off a feisty Triad team for a 58-52 victory in an entertaining Ohio Heritage Conference battle.
It was the eighth straight win for the Tigers, who are now 12-2 overall and 8-0 in the OHC.
“Our guys know that everyone in the league is going to be gunning for them,” said WL-Salem head coach Darrin Leichty. “Last week it was Mechanicsburg and Northeastern that played us tough. Every league game is going to be like this from here on out.”
The Cardinals dropped to 9-4, 4-3 despite a gritty performance.
“Our guys never stopped fighting,” said Triad head coach Matt McCurdy. “There were several times where they could have easily quit, but they never gave up.”
