The Education Committee of the Springfield Symphony Orchestra recently announced that West Liberty-Salem Schools teacher Brice Henry is the winner of the Springfield Symphony Orchestra Music Educator of the Year Award for 2019-20.
He will be honored at the Springfield Symphony Orchestra Subscription Concert by Maestro Wilson at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Kuss Auditorium, with a reception in his honor at 6:45 p.m.
“Mr. Henry’s enthusiasm and dedication to our students is evident in each class, performance, contest or concert. We are thrilled to join in his celebration and congratulate him on this very well deserved honor,” West Liberty-Salem school officials said in a release.
Teachers are eligible for this award in Clark, Champaign, Greene, Miami and Montgomery Counties.
Henry was nominated by several of his colleagues and students, who highlighted many of his accomplishments and dedication to teaching music. After evaluating him in the classroom and during an in-depth interview process, the committee was impressed with the quality of his program and passion for teaching, according to a release.
The award recipient currently teaches first- and third-grade music, middle school choir, high school choir, show choir, junior show choir and serves as the musical director.
