West Liberty-Salem Middle School’s Science Olympiad team recently qualified for the State Science Olympiad tournament, representing the 15th year in a row that the school district has been represented at the state level.
The team advances after finishing seventh out of 34 teams at the Ohio’s Western Regional Tournament, following solid performances in three virtual tournaments.
Winning medals at the regional tournament were: Aiden Taylor and Max Rudolph in Fossils; Sari Kitchen and Illya Keller in Heredity; Craig Stanford and Max Rudolph in Machines; Sari Kitchen and Carter Titus in Reach for the Stars; Greyson Horsley and Emery Longaberger in Write It Cad It; Craig Stanford and Max Rudolph in Gliders; Sari Kitchen and Veronica Wall in Reach for the Stars; Brady Kauffman and Taryn Bradley in Mousetrap Vehicle.
The WL-S 2020-21 Science Olympiad participants includes: freshmen Emily Asbury, Sari Kitchen, Abby Miller, Carter Titus and Veronica Wall; eighth-graders Greyson Horsley, Illya Keller, Nathan Neuerman, Max Rudolph, Craig Stanford, Aiden Taylor and Alex Wick; seventh-graders Taryn Bradley, Brock Burgel, Evan Casto, Brady Kauffman, Emery Longaberger, Emma Smith, Marshall Sutherin, and Cooper Titus; sixth-graders Jill Fullenkamp, Conner Leichty, Noah Sarver, Ben Wall.
Coaches include Cameron Spencer, Danielle Wall, Mary Benedict, John Benedict, Joe Farquharson, Alicia Mathews, Dave Smith, Shane Burgel, Jeremy Keller and Aaron Taylor.
