West Liberty-Salem jumped out to an early lead and stayed in control for a 48-36 win over visiting Versailles in a non-league girls basketball game Monday.
WL-S is now 13-0 on the season. Versailles drops to 6-9.
WL-S grabbed an 11-2 lead after the opening quarter and went on to lead 23-13 at halftime.
The second half saw the hosts keep the momentum. WL-S led 36-25 after three quarters and then outscored Versailles 12-11 in the final quarter to wrap up the win.
Selena Weaver dominated inside to lead WL-Salem. The senior post player poured in 23 points and grabbed 14 rebounds.
Also for the winners, Grace Estes scored 13 points and Emily Hollar added nine points.
In the junior varsity game, Versailles won 34-29. Bailey Poppe led WL-S with nine points.
WL-S is back in action Thursday at home against Fairbanks.
