Nathan L. Egly, 30, of Ft. Wayne, Ind., was charged Wednesday with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs after witnesses reported his erratic driving westbound U.S. Route 33.
The witnesses included an ambulance crew which used their vehicle’s lights and sirens to get the motorist off U.S. 33 at State Route 540. They report the motorist was swerving all over the road and over corrected at times nearly overturning the car. They provided police with cellular phone video of the motorist.
Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department were on the scene at 6:20 p.m. They report he was unable to clearly explain where he came from and where he was heading.
He staggered when he walked to a police cruiser and fell asleep once seated inside.
