William “Bill” Samuel Campbell, 82, a dairy farmer, electrician and life-long resident of Logan County, Ohio, died peacefully in his home March 7, 2016, surrounded by his wife and children. His acceptance of Christ as his personal Savior and baptism ultimately gave him peace to step into his forever heavenly home.
Bill was born at home in Logan County on Aug. 28, 1934, a son of the late Dorothy and Roy Campbell. He also was preceded in death by a son Brian; granddaughter, Shannyn; and siblings, Cliff and Olive.
He married the former Lucille Thaxton on Jan. 7, 1954, and she survives, along with his four children, Pamela, Cynthia, Gary and Beth; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Mabel, Bob, Richard and Roger.
He drove for Omar Bread, and then farmed the Campbell-Woods dairy farm for more than three decades and worked as an electrician for Campbell-Watkins for many more years, serving families and businesses all over Logan and surrounding counties.
He was a devoted husband and father always working long hard days to support his family. Bill was a gentle spirited man who loved to play cards, square dance with the Hi-Point See-Saws, horseshoes and camping. He taught his children and grandchildren about hard work and the joy of learning. He was generous with his time and his quick wit.
He and Lucille enjoyed spending winters in Corpus Christi, Texas, and Spring Hill, Fla. He is deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Bill requested to be cremated and his ashes will be interred in a family plot at Highland Memorial Cemetery. Family and friends are welcome to a celebration of Bill’s life at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 19, at Silver Creek United Methodist Church, 17314 County Road 115, Kenton.
