William E. Parker, 80, of Bellefontaine, passed away Thursday, Feb. 25, 2016, at his residence.
He was born in Urbana on Dec. 15, 1935, a son of the late Albert Gurney and Florence Yohn Parker. He also was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Patricia Ann Parker; and a son, Jeffrey Wayne Parker, in 2007; and several siblings.
On Dec. 25, 1957, he married the former Betty Adkins in Urbana and she survives, along with their daughter, Teresa Parker and son, Jerry (Diana) Parker, all of Bellefontaine; four grandchildren, Douglass Mattox, Christina Mattox, Chastity Morris and Erica Morris; nine great-grandchildren; three sisters, Sue Bump of Cable, Jenny Parker of Indiana and Katherine Caldwell of Springfield; three brothers, James, David and Melvin Parker, all of Urbana; and several nieces and nephews.
William worked for the Urbana Street Department for more than 30 years. He was a member of the R.E.A.C.T. group and had served as an assistant leader for the Boy Scouts of America. He enjoyed word puzzles and searches.
Pastor Ron Irick officiates a funeral at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 29, at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 321 N. Main St., Bellefontaine, where visitation is two hours prior. Burial is in Bellefontaine Cemetery.
