William “Donn” Lee, 75, of Cedar Creek, Texas, passed away June 6, 2016, after a long, gallant and fearless battle against cancer.
He was born in Logan County on March 13, 1941, to the late Willliam “Bill” and Agnes Frost Lee. He also was preceded in death by his grandparents, as well as several aunts and uncles.
Donn was salutatorian of Rushsylvania High School Class of 1959 and immediately began his career in the U.S. Army, where he served for 22 years. Upon retirement, he found his way to Austin, Texas, where he attended the University of Texas, and graduated in 1983. He was an avid fan of all UT Sports. After college, Donn worked for the Texas Railroad Commission.
Donn served as secretary for the Austin Dart Association for many years and met his wife playing darts. They both became avid golfers and RV’ers, traveling on the Retired Military Golf Circuit and spending summers in Ohio.
He is survived by his wife, Helen, of Cedar Creek, Texas; brother, Murray “Ray” Lee of Huntsville; father-in-law, Edward Bahn; brother- and sister-in-law, Mel and Yvonne Landavazo; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family expresses special thanks to Dr. Landon Smith and Texas Nuero Rehab Hospital, especially Dr. Boysen and Al Johnson.
A memorial service begins at 10 a.m. Friday, June 10, at Bastrop Providence Funeral Home, Bastrop, Texas. Military services are at a later date at Ft. Sam Houston, San Antonio, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Cancer Society and favorite charities.
