West Liberty-Salem’s girls basketball team was firing on all cylinders in a 92-40 win over host Triad on Saturday in Ohio Heritage Conference action.
The Tigers improve to 16-3 overall and 11-1 in the OHC standings, while the Cardinals drop to 5-13, 2-10.
WL-Salem jumped on top of Triad for a 23-14 lead after the first quarter. The offense continued to click in the second quarter as the Tigers went on a 29-9 run. That gave WL-Salem a 52-23 cushion at halftime.
The third quarter continued to see the points pile up as the Tigers used an impressive 32-3 run to build an 84-26 lead. Triad outscored WL-Salem 14-8 in the final quarter.
Five players scored in double digits for the Tigers’ offense Saturday. Mikalia McIntosh led the way with 22 points. Jamie Peterson had 20 points, Lily Yoder had 19 points, Gabby Hollar tallied 11 points and Madison Oelker added 10 points.
Jenna Ober fueled Triad with 21 points and Alea Ferguson tallied 11 points.
In junior varsity action, WL-Salem rolled past Triad 33-14.
Triad is back on the court Wednesday at Fairbanks, while WL-Salem returns to action Thursday at home against Greeneview.
