Jill McKelvey was sworn in as mayor of West Liberty Monday evening — the first woman elected to the position.
She took the oath of office flanked by her son, Mathew and daughter-in-law, Samantha and her husband, Bill. She vowed to “faithfully and impartially discharge and perform all the duties incumbent on me as Mayor of the Village of West Liberty.”
The mayor was sworn in by Logan County Family Court Judge Kim Kellogg-Martin.
Judge Kellogg-Martin was the first female elected to the Common Pleas Court for Logan County.
McKelvey has been a member of the West Liberty Village Council since 2008, when she was appointed to fill a one-year unexpired term by former Mayor Greg Hostetler. She was re-elected to Council in 2009, 2013 and 2017.
The mayor thanked the Village of West Liberty and said she “looks forward to serving all the residents for years to come.”
