Trevor A. Brisson, 27, of Bellefontaine, was cited for speed, reckless operation and passing on a double-yellow line during a Monday evening incident.
Officers of the Washington Township Police Department reportedly observed a red motorcycle traveling at a high rate of speed near the intersection of State Route 235 and State Route 274 about 7:30 p.m.
Officers tried to initiate a traffic stop on the motorcycle as it continued eastbound to S.R. 274, reportedly passing multiple vehicles traveling at a high rate of speed.
The motorcycle continued eastbound and got caught up in traffic as it approached Township Road 94, allowing the officers to catch up to the fleeing motorcycle. Officers were right behind the motorcycle with lights and siren activated when the motorcyclist reportedly passed another vehicle and continued eastbound toward Township Road 95 at speeds of 120 mph.
The motorcycle finally pulled over just east of T.R. 95.
During the traffic stop, Brisson was identified as the driver, and he advised officers he did not see them behind him. When asked why he was driving at such high speeds Brisson advised he was “just being an idiot.” Other charges are possible pending a review of the case from the Logan County Prosecutor’s Office.
