Bellefontaine’s girls soccer team was dealt a heartbreaker Wednesday as visiting Northwestern scored with 17 seconds left to escape with a 2-1 victory in Central Buckeye Conference play.
The Chieftains slip to 1-2-1 overall and are 0-1-1 in the CBC Kenton Trail divison. The Warriors bump their record to 3-1, 2-0.
Northwestern scored one goal in the first half to take a 1-0 lead into halftime.
Bellefontaine’s Erin Jackson scored late in the second half on a penalty kick with 1:01 left to play and tie the game 1-1.
The Warriors stunned the Chiefs after scoring a goal with 17 seconds left in the game to go up 2-1. Bellefontaine was unable to pull off any late magic.
Bellefontaine hosts Kenton Ridge on Monday in CBC action.
Alder rolls past Raiders
Jonathan Alder’s girls soccer team handled host Benjamin Logan 7-0 on Wednesday in a Central Buckeye Conference contest.
The Raiders drop their record to 2-2-1 overall and 0-1-1 in the CBC. The Pioneers move to 7-0, 2-0.
Defensively for Ben Logan, Allie Henault made 19 saves in goal.
Ben Logan travels to Botkins on Saturday for a non-league game.
